Two nights ago was our last night on the boat--docked in Split.
After we docked in the afternoon we had a walking tour of the Roman Diocletian's palace. It's an amazing place.
At one time Diocletian had 12 sphinxes from Egypt in the palace. A few are still there.
The Romans had an ingenious way of cutting stones so they wouldn't topple in an earthquake which happened to so many buildings in the 1667 earthquake in Dubrovnik.
There are places where the original Roman mosaic floors are still visible.
When Rome fell and the Christians came in, they destroyed all the Roman statues and built churches.
We have a very cute boutique hotel in the middle of National Square.

We had fun watching all of the traditional singing at this wedding.
Gee Whiz. I love this place now.
